HERMANN MARKARD (1926 Nierstein, Germany) lives in Amsterdam. In 1980
he started to paint a life size cycle called “Models, Friends, Anna and I”, which is dedicated
to his late wife Anna. This cycle, a never ending challenge and source of inspiration has
been exhibited in 1994 at the Goethe-Institut, Rotterdam and after museum-exhibitions
in Germany, the Netherlands and Denmark, it was finally shown in an increased version of
50 paintings and drawings at the Scheringa Museum voor Realisme, The Netherlands in 2009.
